When I first come to CSUMB campus, as a freshman in 2012 when I first meet up with my lower division counselor Mindy Sanchez to talk about what field I was going to do my B.A. on. I remember that I told her that I wanted to do a business major or a Spanish Major with an emphasis on literature so we had a little conversation. I told her that I hate math it's something I had been struggling with all my life. She told me to take sometime to do some research on what percent of people get a job right after they graduate from a Business major and to compare it with a Spanish . I did a research for business and I realized that most business students struggle on getting a job right after they graduate and it's too much competitiveness for all business majors. Then I think about doing Spanish major with an emphasis on literature but I see that most Spanish students from CSUMB major on Literature. The second time that I met with my adviser I asked her why not many students want to major on Linguistics and she told me that Linguistics it's very difficult that most students try it but they ending up changing to Spanish with an emphasis on Literature, but I learned from her that students who major on Linguistics has more opportunities and there are more open positions. I ending up changing my mind and I decide to give a try.
In my senior year of High school I took AP Spanish and for that class we did a lot of presentations, essays but most important the language and writing exams that counts for the University. My Spanish teachers from high school also motivates me to learn more about Spanish.
My experience here at CSUMB has been great, I have been learning so much in all aspects of my language and grammar. All my Spanish classes has prepared me for the next step which after I finish with my B.A. I am planning to continue with my education at San Jose State and work on my masters.
I am very thankful with all my Spanish teachers from CSUMB because they had been motivating me to work hard in every single class.
