MLO 3: Literary and Cultural Knowledge
The student develops a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions) and the cultural products – both tangible and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) — of Hispanic cultures.
- The student completes between two and six courses (depending on his or her choice of emphasis, as either in language and linguistics knowledge or literary and cultural knowledge) in Hispanic literature, culture or society. General areas to choose from are: literature, the social sciences (anthropology, geography, history, political systems), art history, music history, religion or other non-Spanish courses specific to Hispanic culture or society.
Class reflecting: Spanish 304 was a great class. It was a great review for me. Since on my senior year of high school I took a Hispanic literature class, which on this 304 course at CSUMB I had the opportunity to learn more in deep about narrative, poetry, and theater and something very important on how to write essays. Even though I am not a literature mayor. i learn so much for this class. I improve my reading, writing, and speech we had the opportunity to work with groups and to present a presentation in class, as a group of three we decide it to write about one of the stories from the book. we talk about the author, the generation that it represents in Spain. We also had the opportunity to watch to movies in class and i learn so much in this class. Towers the end of the fall semester I was more confident on speaking in front of people, writing and thinking in deep on the essays and I get to learn new Technics on how to write a good essay. We also had the opportunity to take home test and in class test to test our understanding from class.
