The student completes between two and six courses (depending on his or her choice of emphasis, as either language and linguistics knowledge or literary and cultural knowledge) related to the Spanish language and linguistics. These courses deal with: the sound system of Spanish, the history of Spanish, advanced grammar, Spanish-English translation, a general introduction to Spanish linguistics, Spanish for professional application (medical, legal, etc. spheres), composition and conversation.
Reflection: The courses I took to fulfill this requirement was Spanish 313 "Intro to Linguistics and this spring 2015 I am taking "Ling 392"An Introduction to Language". Spanish 313 was the class that captured my attention to learn more about linguistics. on "Ling 392" was the class we looked at the phonetics, phonology, semantics and syntax of language, especially focusing on phonology. The sound system of a language, viewing the different muscles and tongue movements that are necessary to speak like a native. This two classes motivate me a lot more to like linguistics. Spanish 313 was in Spanish and after taking Ling 392 on English I learned so much about how to pronounce some words better in English since My professor from Ling 392 was really helpful and she help me a lot on learning on how to pronounce some words on English. By taking this two classes I improved on my both languages Spanish and English.
